Hello everyone, soon not just blockbusters are going to be reviewed. I am now part of After Hours Film Society which takes place every other monday. After Hours is a fun movie foundation at the good-hearted Tivoli theatre. With brilliant staging, seating and lighting to bring the best entertainment in town. Every other monday an independent movie is screened, then after cookies, coffee, and above all a panel discussion. So, if you want some indie film fun join this event every other monday all movies start at 7:30. Soon expect more independent films to come. So the next big independent film to be reviewed is “The Hunt.”

If I had anything better to do with my time, I would have just watched the 1987 “RoboCop.” It would be me watching the 1987 “RoboCop” drinking a soda and using the most recent “RoboCop” film as a coaster for that soda. Most of the time when watching remakes, you generally just think how much better it would be to watch the original versions of the remakes you’re watching. To be honest, it is not just the fact that it is a remake that makes it not a good movie, it is the fact that it is just nothing but action and no plot development.

This “RoboCop” film is a mess for a variety of reasons. Starting with the idea of building a robot suit  and the damage that people have to take just to be in the suits. Another conflict is the fact that Samuel L. Jackson is playing the news person. He is the legendary boss in “Pulp Fiction” not the man to just be watching as a news person in a movie. The other man that is in the same position is Michael Keaton, playing an inventor, but no enthusiasm with his role. Where I would just see Jackson crush him using his graphic dialogue from “Pulp Fiction.”

Blah Blah Blah, this film is slow and disorganized, and the plot line cannot be described as disorganized. It is one of those films where the production company was thinking to make the previews all attention grabbing but yet not put effort into the actual film to be enjoyable.

I honestly do not like this movie. I have seen the original “RoboCop” and that one I loved this one was just a mess made for Valentines Day. One Star.

With all of the high expectations really high in December and then decreasing right as we find out a war film is being pushed back really caused “Monuments Men” to be a film that is complete boredom. Also it is a disappointment because it has many big names ranging from Clooney, Damon, Goodman, Murray, Blanchett and more. This film was basically designated to be a big movie to see on Christmas time but at that time or close to it, it got pushed back.

“Monuments Men” is about a bunch of soldiers who are gathered to rescue arts stolen by Nazi criminals and return them to their owners during World War 2. The gang is run by Stokes (Clooney) and he gathers up men that have some talent and art background to help him get the arts back. 

Only problem I was having with this movie, was the fact that it was not an epic war movie like “Saving Private Ryan” with amazing sound effects, it was a film where you felt like you were just watching a more boring version of “12 Angry Men.” The violence is very minimal and all made basically for laughs and their is lack of plot dialogue as well.

Overall, this is a film that was an extreme disappointment. I will not watch it again. I am upset honestly, because I wanted to see this movie badly, even with it getting pushed back. It was not improved being pushed back, it was ruined. One star.
